It rains and it shines too. Mahabaleshwar is one of my favourite destinations to rejuvenate and awaken my lethargic bonds with family. In simple terms, allowing myself to breathe!
In our daily, often monotonous lives, we forget to cherish and celebrate quality time with family & loved ones. Living in Mumbai, Mahabaleshwar is my favorite weekend getaway with family.
Scenic landscapes, Known for its delicious red strawberries, series of rivers flowing around, dense forests surrounding the hills, beautiful flora & fauna, migratory birds chirping adding to the natural beauty of the place.
A mystical, heavenly abode!
We prefer taking a road trip to Mahabaleshwar via Pune expressway which is very comfortable, making the journey adventurous and enjoyable. Having family & friends in Pune, I usually tag them along with a stopover in Panchgani.
Panchgani is another stupendous location, offering a serene environment, away from the hustle & bustle of the city. It’s a great place for indulging in some soul-searching with yoga and meditation.
The place is also known for its boarding schools, celebrity farm houses, bewitching nurseries and enchanting strawberry fields.
Round terrains, waterfalls falling in the rifts of the valley, bright sunshine form the scenic beauty of Mahabaleshwar, which sets itself to welcome you with open arms.
Born in a family that hails from mountains, my love for hills and nature is very natural.
Here’s a glimpse into my travel space and places that you shouldn’t miss.
The popular Kate’s Point & Echo Point over looking Krishna Valley are the must Do’s in Mahabaleshwar. Don’t miss echoing your name from the famous point, it’s an extraordinary experience.
Lockwick point on way to Mahabaleshwar is another picturesque site to stop for some breathtaking views. The weather also cools down as you get closer to your destination.
Arthur Seat located about 10 kms from the new town, is another famous stop offering a superb view down the Savitri Valley.
En route, you can even visit Tiger Woods where it is believed that wild animals, especially, tigers used to come & drink water from the spring.
Elphinstone Point is a hit amongst family and kids offering a wide variety of adventure with many trekking trails around the hills as well as sunrise and sunset points.
The glowing sunset is especially mesmerizing and a photographer’s delight.
The waterfalls are at its best during monsoons as water dries during summers. Catch enthralling views of the falls during this period.
Another popular point is the Venna Lake which is located just as you enter Mahabaleshwar from Panchgani.
Offering a host of activities like Boating (both, paddle & rowing boats), Horse riding, Trekking, etc., tourists especially families and kids can have an enjoyable day under the sun. What’s more, you can opt for an individual & guided trek with expert trainers provided you have prior experience. Safety gears are available for these activities. This is one of my daughter’s favorite point.
The main market area has a lot of eating options with small stalls and good restaurants making it one of the busiest areas.
You can find Lord Hanuman’s (Monkey God) temple across the lake.
Mahabaleshwar offers abundant choices for backpackers, adventure lovers and family breaks, especially on a long weekend.

I have been surfing online more than 3 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article
like yours. It is pretty worth enough for me.
Personally, if all web owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the net will be a lot
more useful than ever before.
